Professor Tariq Ahmed Madani
Professor Tariq Ahmed Madani of Saudi Arabia is currently a professor Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Since 2000, he has been working as a full time advisor to the Saudi Minister of Health and the chairman of the National Infection Control Committee, the Scientific Committee, Hajj Infection Control Committee and many other important national committees.

He is a member of the Joint Coordinating Board (JCB) of the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), World Health Organization. He was awarded a letter of appreciation from the late King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz for making the diagnosis of Rift Valley Fever in Saudi Arabia and designing the strategy to control the epidemic. He was also awarded Nawt Alhajj from His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior for Distinguished Contributions to the Health of Pilgrims in Hajj.

He has extensive clinical experience in the management of infectious diseases including bacterial, mycobacterial, viral, fungal, chlamydial, rickettsial and parasitic infections, chronic hepatitis C and B infections, HIV infection, infections in the immuno-compromised host (bone marrow transplant, oncology patients, patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy), infections in critical care units, and travel medicine. He also has vast experience in hospital and field infection control. He has many publications in the field of internal medicine and infectious diseases.

Professor Madani obtained his bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1987. He was appointed as a Faculty staff in the Department of Medicine in the same college in 1988. He completed training in Internal Medicine in the University of Ottawa, Canada, in 1993 and fellowship in Infectious Diseases in the University of Manitoba, Canada in 1996. He obtained the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the American Board of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
